Tidings from the Ghayb
THE SEVENTH FLASH
This treatise deals with the seven kinds of reports from the ghaybThe unseen; that which is hidden from human perception and knowledge. that are proclaimed in the verses at the end of SurahChapter of the Qur’an. al-Fath.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
Indeed, Allah has truly fulfilled His Messenger’s dream. If Allah wills, you will surely enter the Sacred Mosque in safety, with your heads shaved or your hair shortened, without fear. He knew what you did not know, and He granted a near victory before that. He is the One Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, so that He may make it prevail over all other religions. And Allah is sufficient as a Witness. Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Those who are with him are firm against the disbelievers and compassionate toward one another. You see them bowing and prostrating, seeking Allah’s grace and pleasure. Their mark is on their faces from the traces of prostration. This is their description in the Torah. And their description in the Gospel is like a seed that puts forth its shoot, then strengthens it, so that it grows thick and stands firmly upon its stem, delighting the sowers. In this way, He causes the disbelievers to be enraged by them. Allah has promised those among them who believe and do righteous deeds forgiveness and a tremendous reward. — The Qur’an 48:27–29
These three verses of SurahChapter of the Qur’an. al-Fath contain numerous miraculous aspects. Among the ten universal aspects that demonstrate the Qur’an’s miraculousness, the aspect related to giving news from the ghaybThe unseen; that which is hidden from human perception and knowledge. can be observed in these three verses in seven or eight ways.
The First Aspect
Indeed, Allah has truly fulfilled His Messenger’s dream. If Allah wills, you will surely enter the Sacred Mosque in safety, with your heads shaved or your hair shortened, without fear. He knew what you did not know, and He granted a near victory before that.
This verse gives certain news of the conquest of Mecca before it came to pass. Two years later, the conquest took place exactly as described.
The Second Aspect
And He granted a near victory before that
proclaims the following: although the Treaty of HudaybiyyahA peace treaty concluded in 628 (6 AH) between Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Quraysh of Mecca at Hudaybiyyah, establishing a truce between the Muslims and the Quraysh. outwardly appeared to be against Islam and the QurayshThe Arab tribe of Mecca to which Prophet Muhammad (saw) belonged. seemed, in a certain sense, to have prevailed, the glad tidings contained in this verse indicate that the Treaty of HudaybiyyahA peace treaty concluded in 628 (6 AH) between Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Quraysh of Mecca at Hudaybiyyah, establishing a truce between the Muslims and the Quraysh. was in reality a great victory and would serve as the key to further conquests.
Indeed, with the Treaty of HudaybiyyahA peace treaty concluded in 628 (6 AH) between Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Quraysh of Mecca at Hudaybiyyah, establishing a truce between the Muslims and the Quraysh., the physical sword was temporarily sheathed, but the truth of the Qur’an—like a brilliant diamond sword—was unveiled, and it conquered minds and hearts. As a result of that peace, the Muslims and the polytheists of Mecca came into contact with one another. The virtues of Islam and the lights of the Qur’an tore through the veils of stubbornness and tribal pride, and drew the polytheists toward Islam.
